I believe coaching isn’t just a prescription of Swim Bike Run and Race. It is so much more! Triathlon is about finding out who you are and working towards who you want to be mentally and physically!
My real strength as a coach is understanding YOU as a person and athlete.
I have strong athlete coach connections, I’m here to guide you on your journey with passion and dedication to help you achieve your goals.
The lessons you learn about yourself by continually stepping outside your comfort zone and testing yourself is how you become resilient in life. I believe through triathlon training and racing you’ll learn to see who you really are, and develop such a belief in yourself that the world will become yours to conquer however you want to.
A 14 years of age Mel a tiny Pocket Rocket entered an extremely popular televised racing series called, “The Australian Triathlon Grand Prix”. Mel absolutely dominated this short fast technical style of racing in only her second season of Triathlon. Mel was standing next to the giants of the sport, such as the likes of, Michelle Jones, Jackie Gallagher VALE and Emma Carney. Unbelievably, 14-year-old Mel was the one to beat!
Mel had a devastating swim leg coming from a swim background but she was also a formidable runner winning Australian Cross-Country Running Championships as well as a successful Surf Life Saver. Mel had already won many titles across all her sports before she entered Triathlon.
Mel was a fierce competitor, determined, plucky and unfazed by who her competitors were, her moto, if I’m on the start line, I’m there to win.
Mel was the youngest athlete to compete in a televised Triathlon Series in the history of Triathlon, she was also the youngest Triathlete ever to compete in the ITU World Cup Triathlon series. Her first event in her home town of Sydney under the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Mel stood on the start line and totally out of her depth to compete against the best athletes in the world at 16 years of age!
Mel didn’t disappoint either, she dominated the swim, formed a group with Loretta Harrop on the bike to finish an astonishing career highlight 7th Place. Not bad for 16.
